On Sunday, I will be at Somes Island from 12 noon til around 8:00 pm to help out during Wellington’s annual (i think) Zombie Run Race. I had wanted to participate as a runner but I got sick sometime in August and was out of it for a good six weeks. So, I’ve passed up on joining as a runner, but I will be there as a race day volunteer. I actually already know where I’ll be stationed – I’ll be at the finish line! I think I’m supposed to (well, me and 2 other volunteers) record the finish time of the runners who complete the race. Will find out more on Sunday. I don’t know if I would be able to take pictures though – or if I’d be allowed to take pictures (even if these are random ones using my phone or point and shoot). If I do, I’ll definitely share these here; and in case we’re not allowed to take snaps I shall share these instead.
These were taken in April 2012 – during an Armageddon Expo at Hamilton. I persuaded my Mum and her partner to drive down from Huntly so we can take pictures of the local Zombie Walk (no running here). Those who wanted to join just had to visit the booth of one of the exhibitors (obviously, they specialise in zombie make up) and they’d do their magic. At the end of the day, all the zombified volunteers were to walk towards Centre Place Mall to scare the the wits out of anyone who would be there. And boy were they able to scare the living daylights out of a lot of unsuspecting patrons! You could hear the screaming a mile away!
Here are some head shots:
Of the zombies waiting for the lights to turn green (and crossing the street) – a few kids started bawling when they saw the horde … who wouldn’t?
and finally … one of me and my most ardent suitors.
Have a great rest of the week, and have a wonderful Halloween!!
